More Than a Clothing Brand
A Story for My Son—and for Future Generations
I created Străbunii because I wanted my little boy and me to wear something that carries meaning—not just clothing, but symbols that connect us to our ancestors and remind us where we come from.
When we look at the geometric motifs on ancient artifacts or traditional textiles like the IA (the traditional blouse), we tend to see them merely as decorative elements. In reality, for our ancestors, geometry was not a matter of simple aesthetics, but a sacred language—a code easily understood when you preserve your history and your roots. Every symbol, line, circle, or spiral represents a profound understanding of the cosmos, bringing cosmic order into the earthly realm and opening a channel of communication with the divinity within us.
Words and toughts are powerful, and so are the symbols. They are a visual language carrying stories of protection, harmony, courage, fertility, wisdom, and the enduring connection between humanity and nature.
I know, just like my ancestors before me, that what we say what we think what we wear can protect us, bring harmony, bring fertility and luck, and remind us of our roots.
A sacred symbol can spark curiosity, inspire questions, and bring families together to discover our common history. As parents, the time we spend talking with our sons and daughters creates memories that last a lifetime.
Stories become traditions.
Traditions become identity.
When children understand where they come from, they grow strong—like a tree with deep roots that can withstand any storm. Knowing your roots gives you confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging.
I learned these stories from my mother and my grandparents when I was a little boy. I wanted my son to grow up knowing the richness of his heritage, the ancient symbols of our lands, and the remarkable civilizations that flourished here thousands of years ago.
I know that one day he will tell these same stories to his own children, keeping this legacy alive for generations to come.
Every Symbol Begins with Research
Every design starts with months of research.
I study archaeological discoveries, ancient civilizations, prehistoric symbols, traditional Romanian embroidery, historical sources, and museum collections to understand the original meaning behind every motif.
Inspired by the civilizations of Cucuteni, Hamangia, Schela Cladovei, and Tărtăria (among the more than 30 civilizations that existed here) and the cultural heritage of the Getae, every collection is created to inspire curiosity and reconnect people with the stories within the symbols they wear.
At Străbunii, nothing is random.
Every line.
Every shape.
Every symbol tells a story.
Why I Started Străbunii
Before my baby was born, I began to rediscover my roots, my family history, and our nation's history, and when my baby was born i wanted to share it with him . As I searched for clothing inspired by this legacy, I discovered that very little existed. So, I decided to create it myself.
For more than 7 years, it was just a dream. Today, I finally have the opportunity to turn that dream into reality, and I am deeply grateful for it.
My dream goes beyond clothing.
I hope that one day the success of Străbunii will allow me to create educational cartoons for children around the world—bringing true history, mythology, archaeology, and ancient civilizations to life through stories they will truly enjoy.
Because history should never feel forgotten.
It should feel alive.

Instead of mass-producing clothing that may never be worn, each piece is created only after it is ordered. This approach helps reduce unnecessary waste while allowing us to focus on craftsmanship, sustainability, and meaningful design.
