Throughout the European, Mediterranean, and Asian spaces, no other ancient workshop matrix has been discovered that can equal it in dimensions, shape, weight, and decorative richness. We are talking about a massive bronze prism with 8 faces (6 lateral and 2 main), a weight of 8 kilograms, a thickness of 5 centimeters, and over 80 negative die-patterns engraved on its surface.
Official archaeological dating places its creation in the 1st century BC, being intensively used in the capital until its destruction in the years 105 - 106 AD. However, the artifact is older from the perspective of its technical and symbolic heritage.
Its edges show deep signs of wear, impact, and hammering, clear evidence that the Getic (Dacian) matrix was used for several generations in a row in the royal goldsmith workshop. In prehistory, the cave lion ruled our mountains. Fossilized skeletons of lions were discovered by archaeologists in Muierilor Cave in Gorj, Urșilor Cave in Bihor, and Cioclovina Cave in Hunedoara.

In the 1st millennium BC, the lion lived freely in the Lower Danube area, in Dobruja, and in the Thracian mountains. The great Greek historian Herodotus describes in Histories (Book VII, chapters 125-126) the march of the Persian army in the year 480 BC: While Xerxes was passing through these places, lions attacked the camels in the caravan. The lions came down from the mountains at night and attacked only the camels. In these places, there are many lions and wild bulls with huge horns.
